A Seed's Journey

PARAGRAPH 01Mia has a small brown seed. She puts it in a pot by the window. She gives it some water. ‘Can you grow?’ she asks. The seed does not answer. Mia smiles and waits. She writes the date on a card and puts the card next to the pot.

PARAGRAPH 02Every morning, Mia looks at the pot. At first, she sees only dark soil. On Friday, she sees something green. It is a tiny leaf! She calls her brother. They look at the new plant together.

PARAGRAPH 03The plant needs light and water. Mia turns the pot and keeps the soil a little wet. Soon, the plant has four leaves. Mia draws it in her notebook. ‘You are small,’ she says, ‘but you are growing every day. So am I!’
